My Symptoms

Woke up with that scratchy throat and achy feeling. Knew I was coming down with something.

My Hypothesis

I had recently read a report on something called a Vitamin D hammer that you could use at the first sign of a cold. The idea is you flood your system with Vitamin D to amp up your immune response.

What I Tried

Vitamin D3 Hammer (High-Dose Acute Protocol)

50,000 IU vitamin D3 as a single dose on day 1 when symptoms started. Took it with a fatty meal for absorption.

Duration: 1 day
Cost: $1 (one-time)

Results

Before

4/10

Below Average

Early cold symptoms: scratchy throat, fatigue, slight body aches, that fuzzy head feeling. Normally this would turn into a full-blown cold lasting 7-10 days for me.

After

9/10

Excellent

Symptoms didn't progress like they usually do. I actually felt better the next morning. Never developed into full congestion or the worst of it. Back to normal by day 2.

Timeline to Improvement

Side Effects

None that I noticed.

Confidence Level

4/5

I've tried it multiple times now with similar results.

Conclusion

Seems to help shorten the amount of time I feel sick. Sometimes I feel normal the next day. I use it everytime I feel like I'm coming down with a virus. I have also had my 25-OH vitamin D levels checked multiple times and it's always within normal range. The Vitamin D hammer has become a staple in our house.
