Vasomotor symptoms of menopause including hot flashes, night sweats, flushing, and associated sleep disturbance. Can significantly impact quality of life.

Research Hypothesis

20mg standardized black cohosh extract twice daily (40mg total), isopropanolic extract preferred

Duration: 8-12 weeks

Study Results

Postmenopausal women experiencing moderate to severe hot flashes, not on hormone replacement therapy.

After Treatment

Meta-analysis of 22 studies (2,310 women) shows significant improvement in hot flashes (p=0.003) and overall menopausal symptoms (p<0.001) compared to placebo.

Timeline to Improvement

Improvements typically observed within 4-8 weeks of use

Side Effects
